Haarlem in Scotland

Last month, in Scotland, we visited two musea with paintings. Both in Edinburgh and in Glasgow we encountered a painting of St-Bavo in Haarlem, which we remember so well for Bert.

US IQ survey

News emerged yesterday of preliminary results from the US government investigation that analysed sudden acceleration in Toyotas and Lexuses following almost 2,200 incidents.
The report, seen by The Wall Street Journal, said: "The early results suggest that some drivers who said their Toyotas and Lexuses surged out of control were mistakenly flooring the accelerator when they intended to jam on the brakes."

Researchers have made a single walking DNA molecule, that can be guided over a track.
The molecule has 4 tentacles that bind to the vertical sticks on the track. They cut the stick (short sticks at the left) and bind to the next stick, dragging the molecule along to the red target at the right.
They're imagining future one molecule nanobots for packet delivery (medicine) and factories in the future.

Private car traffic went up 30%.
80% of private traffic is for distances under 15km.
62% of private traffic is by drivers without passengers.

In the same period (1997-2008) the number of obese people increased from 41% to 47%.
