Greenpeace action at European Parliament

On december 11th greenpeace deployed some climate slogans at the european summit in Brussels. They managed to get at the entrance with all the European presidents.
Greenpeace says all it took were some fake badges (with Greenpeace logo), business suits and a rented expensive car.
Reaction of the Brussels City Police: " If we had imagined that someone would be so stupid to do such dangerous actions, this would never have happened. Security has not failed. If people use heavy infrastructure to imitate police cars and access badges anybody can get in there."
This is what you get if you give security European security into the hands of a small city police force. Additionally in Brussels is composed of 19 municipalities and the police force is fractured over 6 regions.

Global warming countered by acid rain

A recent NASA study links global warming to the decrease in sulfate particles in the air, because these particles reflect heat. Sulfate particles were the cause of acid rain.














The same study, concentrating on aerosols as a cause for global warming, says a rise in sooth levels from Chinese coal, is causing a temperature rise, because sooth absorbs warmth.

Gene taylor @ 't Hof van Blaasveld

Last saturday the Gene Taylor trio played a fine concert in our neighbourhood pub.
Gene Taylor is a great piano player, sometimes reminds me of Professor Longhair (no physical resemblance).
The trio features the ever relaxed Wuff Maes on drums and Tim Hooligan on guitar.
I remember fun versions of "one scotch, one bourbon, one beer", with a practical demonstration, logically followed by "Drunk" (Jimmy Liggings). They finished of taking "Jambalaya" (Hank Williams) back to New Orleans.




Gene Taylor used to play with the exciting retro rock band The Blasters and is touring with the Fabulous Thunderbirds these days.

Hemel en aarde

Paul Rans retires from his world music program Hemel en Aarde sunday evening on Klara radio. Hemel en Aarde had a wide array of folk music from all over the world, but focussed on asian and arabic music. Typical 20 minute performances, ideal for softly drifting to sleep.
Hemel en Aarde continues with a new guy, Marc Vandemoorte, who is selecting a bit more European folk. There's also a a new presenter (that english?), Melike Tarhan, a female Turkish singer from Ghent (record by Melike). The music is still fine, but I'm missing Rans's voice.
