Offshoring pensioners

Offshoring is happening in all industries. Growing numbers of elderly Germans are being sent to retirement homes in low cost countries (Eastern Europe, Far East).
In German retirement homes:

• a person gets 53 minutes a day of personal care
• costs about €3000/month (pensions are not following the surging cost)
• there are 14.000 job vacancies

Currently European legislation does not allow state insurers to directly contract retirement homes outside of Europe.
