rainforest shrinking speed doubles

This year the speed with which the amazone rainforest in brasil is cut has more than doubled.
At the current rate the rainforest will be gone by 2030.

oil reserves bigger than reported

Current oil reserves are estimated to be 200 trillion liters. According to a article in petroleum review this value relates to oil which can be produced with a probability of 90% (proven reserves).
These figures are good for doing calculations for economical reporting and planning, as a low estimate, thing about which you can be reasonably confident. However for realistic scenario's for modelling the future, a 50% probability (proven + probable reservers) is more accurate.
Applying a 50% chance reserves are 2-3 times larger than the commonly used figures.

Let's hope this is not true, the real challenge is not oil reserves, but CO2 production.

Kobe heeft sinds eind augustus 2 kippen: Sarie (zilverpatrijs leghorn) en Marijs (goudbrakel).
Marijs ontsnapt elke avond rond hetzelfde uur (voor ze gaat slapen).

Ik dacht dat leghorn gewoon verbasterd "leghoen" was, maar het is de Engelse naam voor het Italiaanse Livorno.

UPDATE: Nadat ze ontsnapt ging ze vaak bovenop het hok zitten. Ze zoekt dus gewoon een hoge plaats en is niet tevreden met de stokken in het hok die redelijk laag zitten

Reminds me of our old native nabour on our holiday in Andalucia. He could gather and peel prickly pear cactus fruits with his bare hands, because the skin of his hands was rough and numb all over.
